Reviews:
Americana: a rich tapestry of diverse histories and origins, at times yields
uncompromising music. From the midwestern planes of our heartland, have
come two bands with similar approaches to sonic pleasure: Hula Hoop and
Syringe. What appears to be relaxed song structures (and approaches to
song writing) links these two bands in a fictitious fraternal gathering.
Guitars and bass tug at your ears for attention while percussion stokes
the coal fire feeding the relentless energy. Yes, they perform pop songs.

Fucking brilliance in a glass of ice
- Greg Dimond, Induce Records
The first release from the Norman band Syringe and Little Mafia Records
is an eye catching green mint 7" featuring two well crafted tunes.
The A side is "On The Other Side", a catchy tune that any band
should be proud of with it being their debut single. However the B side
what makes this single special. "Flightless Birds" mixes great
harmonic vocals with a driving rhythm. This song however is wrongfully
cut short by the limitations of 45rpms on 7 inches of vinyl. This 7 inch
is great and should just foretell of an exciting future for this band.
Little Mafia should be applauded for their role in bringing this 7 inch
to the public.

Syringe, Spent, Seam This show was good. After a day of record shopping
in Oklahoma City, Ryan, my pal Gianni, and I went down to the show. After
waiting around for half an hour, Syringe played. Gianni had (that very
day in fact) released a 7" by them, so I had bought one from him earlier
(I hadn't heard them yet). Anyway, they were incredible live. I love those
indie rockers. But they were just loud and just whew. Great live show.
Spent was next. I almost fell asleep during their set. I don't know, not
impressive. Then Seam played. That was probably the best live show I have
seen in a long time. They were so great live, so much better than on record.
It's weird to listen to their albums now because it doesn't even compare
to their live show. There was alot of energy during their set, something
Spent lacked, and i just smiled. Go get them Seam boys.
