The first and only full length from these emo-indie tough guys. Not for
sissies yet sensitive enough to get you laid or at least feel like you
did. Includes recordings made with former drummer Joaquin "Josh"
Garza and is easily comparable to Josh's other bands Comet, Captain Audio,
and Secret
Machines.

Reviews:
I don't know how these pretty boys keep from
getting laid just by showing their sweet little mugs in public. Especially
Robert Farrell bass player, mechanic, extraordinaire. You can't throw
a dead cat in Denton, TX without hitting an indie girl that looks like
our boy Robert. I think what separates these fine young men in Syringe
from your whiny Weezer, Tully Craft, Nothing
Painted Bruno gentlemen is that puberty was fully effective. I mean their
voices changed, they lost the baby fat, they even got nice thick arm hair,
so I'm assuming the all around mission was accomplished. So even though
some of the songs run a bit into the candy ass this is still a tough fucking
album that you might find filed amongst Loop, Mercury Rev, Spaceman 3
records before you get to the Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, and Guided By
Voices stuff. - www.13music.com
Having loved Syringe's singles before cracking this jewel box open. I
had high hopes for them maintaining such incredible statuesque (as evidenced
in the previously released "Sloth" and "Flightless Birds")
songs across a full-length. While cheating a bit by including four of
the songs previously released on the 7" singles, their mandate of
keeping my crush steady was fulfilled. Their skewed approach to pop resonates
similarly with the (recently) much-bally-hooed Grandaddy, while stretching
in other directions. Syringe's trinkets of sound bow and curtsy to Msrs.
Lenola, Velocity Girl (Archie's guitar work), Chills, Track Star, The
Cars, Bats, T*Shirt, Spiritualized, and even Big Star depending on the
song in question. Syringe have a knack for seducing the listener while
acting across their different modes and moods. Whether it be their twisted
psychedelia, their charming harmonics, or the ability to harness love
inside three chord ranges, Syringe are dutifully achieving more in guitar/bass/drum/keys
pop than anyone I can name.
- MOD Magazine, Issue 5
This little LP is a pleasantly plucky indie-core that sounds very much
like it came from Norman, Oklahoma, which, in fact, it does. It sounds
like a small college town where the guys wear thrift-store clothing and
all have a certain clunky sex appeal. Perfect summer-in-the-park music
and equally ideal for road trips through the Midwest. Don't be afraid
of the name. This particular Syringe is more likely to contain catchy
pop than crank.
- Torso, November 1999, Volume 17 Number 4
Sinewy guitar rock/pop, somewhere along the lines of a more 'produced'
Wreck Small Speakers On Expensive Stereos or a stripped-down Sonic Youth
& Slint hybrid and firmly subscribing to the 'stoned college rockers'
sound which has been around for a number of years now. If you grease yr
pole to most of what Fisheye carry, you might well just go for this. We
hope.
